Yes, but all of the stuff on Lassie was faked- trick photography. The A.S.P.C.A would look askance at any stunts that had the dog in real danger. Usually she ( Lassie- in the context of the show- was a female) would energetically run home to the family farm=house and bark very frantically. This was taken in Lassie-ese to mean a General Alarm- Timmy"s in some kind of trouble. Obviously dogs have helped out in such cases- but Lassie -well it was all trick and re-edited photography. If the hazards were really grave- it would not be fiction.
