I think it depends on how much you have. Sometimes you might just get a slap on the wrist, but other times you can be considered a dealer if you have over a certain amount. I would suggest checking with your state office to find out what the laws are in your particular state. be careful if you go outside of the United States though. In some countries, they take drug possession much more seriously. In Malaysia for instance, there was a man who was found with 5 pounds of marijuana at the airport and he spent 5 years in jail and then they hung him. His parents tried for that entire 5 years to get him out, but it did no good at all.
