The regional airlines typically hire applicants with at least a two year associates degree. Many require at least that to apply. The major airlines prefer a 4 year bachelors degree of their applicants, even if it is not a hard requirement with some carriers. The degree can be in any subject.
Airline pilots will need a four year college degree. You do not need many years of schooling to become a pilot. You can get certified as a private pilot at age 17 as long as you pass your written test, your flight check and meet other requirements for flight time and ground school hours depending on your program.
This depends on what kind of pilot you are trying to become, the funds and time that you have available for this project.
A private pilot requires 40 hours of air time, plus your book school and your check ride. If you have the time and money, you can be a pilot in 6 months.
If you are looking to become a commercial pilot, this can take years.
There is no requirement to have a college degree to get a pilots license. However, military fixed wing pilots are officers, and a bachelor's degree is required to be an officer. Most airlines will not consider someone without a degree in hiring pilots and flight engineers.
It takes approximately a year to become a pilot, depending on how quickly you learn. The training varies to what aircraft you look forward on flying.
