There is strong evidence that the first gospel, now known as Mark's Gospel, was written within two or three years of the year 70 CE. The second gospel, Matthew's Gospel is widely believed to have been written around 85 CE, although Raymond E. Brown (An Introduction to the New Testament) suggests an allowance of about ten years either way.

Since Matthew's Gospel was written up to twenty years before Luke's Gospel, Matthew's account would have been first. However, we know that the author of Luke's Gospel knew nothing of Matthew's Gospel, and so could not harmonise his account with that of Matthew. The entire book of Genesis is believed to have been written by Moses. This does not mean that the stories therein originated with Moses. If they really happened, as I believe they did, then they obviously originated at the time of their occurence.
