As it is the most famous royal residence of Chinese emperors; also a great icon of Chinese architecture buildings.
Forbidden City
# It is not a country it is a city in China # It is the capital of China # It contains the Forbidden City, the home of the Chinese Emperors.
The Chinese Empire covered part of Japan long ago. The Japanese had to pay tribute to the Chinese Emperors for many centuries. Naturally they affected the Japanese culture. The Japanese Language even has Chinese Characters (known as Kanji) in it.
the forbidden city is now a museum but was used as the palace of 24 emperors and also as a political and ceremonial centre of Chinese government.
As Forbidden city was once the home of the 24 emperors and their households of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1616-1911) dynasties, and the ritual and political center of the Chinese government.
Not very much - they were overtaken first by warlords and then the Communist state, which is radically different in its approach to the emperors.
