The surface landscape above a laccolith typically appears as a dome or bulge due to the intrusion of magma creating a blister-like formation beneath the Earth's crust. Over time, erosion may expose the laccolith's core, revealing the igneous rock that solidified underground. This can result in unique geological features like mesas or buttes.

A laccolith may be detected at Earth's surface before being exposed by erosion because it causes uplift in the overlying rocks, creating a dome-like structure. This uplift can be visible through topographic mapping or geophysical surveys before the laccolith is fully exposed by erosion processes. Additionally, the resistant nature of the igneous rock forming the laccolith may also prevent erosion, keeping it buried beneath the surface for an extended period.

A laccolith forms when magma is injected into a horizontal crack in the rock layers, causing the overlying rock to arch upwards. This is influenced by factors such as the viscosity of the magma, the amount of pressure exerted, and the density contrast between the magma and surrounding rock. If the magma is less fluid and exerts greater pressure, it is more likely to form a laccolith instead of a sill, which forms when magma intrudes parallel to the rock layers.

Landscape?
not on the surface but might be some under the surface of the planet...??
The piles of soil are the worm casts, (faeces) which the worm excretes after feeding. These may be pushed to the surface as the worm clears out his tunnel or deposited on the surface as the earthworm feeds above ground. As the worm will not venture far from its burrow it might explain as why they are situated around the opening of the hole.
