One reason would be because of the different environments; each would have it's own plants , wildlife, weather,
etc...and
each would develop language to describe their particular home...and
, if one traveled, they would learn
new language particular to he new elevation/ environment. Customs, the same. People would develop customs that would be unique to their unique environment.
