minecraft typically uses between 300MB and 900MB of RAM, although it can use more if you play on high settings and expand your world a lot. The game usually gets allocated 900 MB RAM by the operating system (if you have that much).

Not that much, a little under one GB (Gigabyte), if you want a good performance then you're going to need around four, possibly more if you're using a high resolution texture pack or an advanced mod.

If your talking about Ram then 2 gigs will run it ok but 4+ gigs will run it better.

If your talking about your HD then you will need around 1 or 2 gigs for the game to grow, the game itself isn't too big but the world saves can get quite large if you host a server with your friends or family.

To get the best graphics you need around a Core 2 Duo With 2GB of RAM and a 500mhz 1GB Graphics card for the basic version you need half that
