The laptop in question comes with 4GB of RAM.
The HP 8530p laptop comes with 2GB of RAM installed.
The RAM that is used for a laptop is not the same as the RAM that you would use in a desktop PC. The RAM that is used for a PC is much too big to be used in a laptop, so a laptop has to use a much smaller RAM card which is called SD-RAM.
512 MB = 0.5 GBHence after adding 1 GB RAM your laptop memory will be 1.5 GB.
The Dell Latitude D610 comes standard with 1GB of DDR2 RAM but is upgradable to a more robust 2GB.
2 gigabytes of RAM is what you should get for a Touch screen laptop. If you only find 1 gigabyte, you can upgrade it with a 1 gigabyte RAM chip.
If your laptop has available RAM slots then you can add it. Also you have to check how much of RAM your laptop can support. It's not more then 2 Gb. You can replace the RAM which you have now by RAM with more capacity. PS Some laptops do not allow to change or upgrade RAM (mostly old models and ASUS Eeee).
If you are talking about RAM... I saw one customized laptop with 16 Gb of RAM. If you are talking about certain model then you need to check the manufacture's website.
You should have at least 3 to 4gb but in most cases the mobile graphic cards / chipset graphics are limiting the gaming capabilities of a laptop much more than the ram.
No
Yes, you can add two higher-size RAM cards to the laptop.
Boris Tarkington - That depends on the laptop. Two things limit the amount of ram. First, the operating system you have installed. If you have a Windows XP or older operating system then the operating system can only make use of up to 3.5 gig of ram regardless of how much you put in. If you have Windows 7 installed the limit is much higher. Either way, the hardware itself restricts the amount of RAM that it will address. The best thing to do is to search on the manufacturer and model name of your laptop and find the manufacturer's documentation about that laptop. It will say how much RAM it can take.
