To keep their proceedings secret so that the new constitution could be a surprise
In a house on a hot day, so the public opinions won't get in the way
The Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia was kept secret from the public to prevent interference. Details were finally released to the public in 1840.
Because He was a famous War Veteran and the public respected him as a good figure
The delegates at the Constitutional Convention decided to keep their work a secret to encourage open and honest debate without outside pressure or public scrutiny. By limiting access to their discussions, they aimed to foster a collaborative environment where ideas could be freely exchanged. Additionally, secrecy helped prevent external influences and potential backlash from the public or state legislatures, allowing them to craft a more cohesive and effective Constitution. This approach ultimately facilitated the development of a stronger federal government than what existed under the Articles of Confederation.

This is not a question, what are you trying to ask
The answer is. As soon as it becomes general public knowledge that a sufficient number of applications have been submitted by the states to cause a convention call. Congress has disobeyed the Constitution and refused to call a convention. The over 700 applications from 49 states can be read at www.foavc.org. Once Congress realizes the American public know they have been violating the Constitution and begin asking why can they do this, public pressure will mount. Not so much because of a convention but because everyone will realize that if Congress can refuse to obey one part of the Constitution, they can disobey other parts. To prevent this means forcing them to call the convention even if nothing is done at the convention.
An example of a constitutional convention is the practice of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom being a member of the House of Commons rather than the House of Lords. Although the UK constitution does not explicitly require this, it has become an established norm that the Prime Minister is elected by the public and represents the majority in the Commons, reflecting democratic principles and ensuring accountability to the electorate.
The new republic based on the proceedings of the Constitutional Convention was conceived in secrecy. The Convention was closed to the press and the regular citizens. Benjamin Franklin observed that during the deliberations he, like the others may have expressed doubt but to quote Franklin he said " Within these walls they were born and here they shall die." On member, Rufus King wondered whether the journals of the Convention should be destroyed as a measure to avoid opponents of the Constitution to use them against the republic in the future. It would take about one hundred years before the contents of the Convention were fully disclosed.
