A "standard" drink in the United States contains 0.6 ounces of alcohol. That is roughly equivalent to one 12-oz. beer, one 4 oz. glass of wine, or one shot of 80 proof liquor. Beyond that, it depends on the drink and the bartender.

Depends on the drink and the proof of the liquor and/or liqueurs that go into it. A one-ounce shot of 80-proof liquor contains 4/10 ounce of alcohol (11.8 cc).

Can you use cheaper liquor in mixed drinks?

How many ounces of bourbon in a well drink?

2oz. Most mixed drinks only have 2oz of liquor tops. Most states require that no mixed drink has more than 2oz of liquor in them. There's of course wiggle room, but i don't know the specifics. If you ever order a mixed drink and they ask you if you want it big or small (like in a small glass, or in a pint glass) you might as well just get it small, because they don't put any more booze in the big one. If you want more alcohol in the big version, ask them to make it a double. Just for references, I believe a shot is generally an ounce and a half to two ounces.

Standard drinks of each contain 0.6 oz of alcohol.A standard alcoholic drink is:*A 12-ounce can or bottle of regular beer*A 5-ounce glass of dinner wine*A shot (one and one-half ounces) of 80 proof liquor or spirits such as vodka, tequila, or rum either straight or in a mixed drink.

How much alcohol is in a standard alcoholic beverage?

The amount of alcohol in a standard drink varies in different countries, from 6 grams in Austria to 19.75 grams in Japan. (Japan, as a country, is in serious denial about the extent of their drinking problems. Binge drinking is sort of a national sport.)In the United States, a standard drink (unit) of alcohol is any drink that contains about 14 grams of pure alcohol (about 0.6 fluid ounces or 1.2 tablespoons). In the US, a standard drink is calculated as roughly the amount of alcohol that can be metabolized by the human body in one hour. In other words, if you drank one unit per hour you could (at least in theory) continue to drink indefinitely without becoming intoxicated. In fact, metabolic rates vary among individuals and by gender, so this is not even an accurate approximation.
