Any member of any of the U.S. armed services is entitled to 30 days of leave per year. In addition, he/she may be granted emergency leave when warranted. Further, it has been known to occur that one may be granted "basket leave" at times such as long holiday week-ends when the service member's presence will not be needed and leave has not been requested; leave papers are prepared, authorized, and placed in the Duty Officer's "basket" and when the service member returns to his/her duty station on time and without incident, the leave papers disappear from the basket and the leave is never recorded. This is done so that the service member will not be in trouble for taking leave without authorization if involved in an accident or detained by the police while away from his/her duty station.

"Annual leave" is an amount of leave that an employer grants an employee on an annual basis. It is also know as Vacation Leave. There is a difference between Annual Leave and other types of leave such as Sick Leave, Bereavement Leave, Maternity Leave etc. Some employers give you an allowance upon your date of hire, and then renew the amount of Annual Leave on a specific date (usually the anniversary of the date of hire). This allows the employee to use their allowance of Annual Leave within the first few months if they wish. Other Employers use an acumulative basis whereby the employee earns a "pro-rata" basis each month. This means that you have to earn the time you are given for your Annual Leave allowance before you take it. For instance, if you were given an Annual Leave Allowance of 12 Days a year, you may earn one day a month, and so, you need to work for the employer is for 12 months before you have earned 12 days.
Depends on what company you work for, normally aroun 28days per year

Traditional a soldier will take two 15 day block leaves a year, one during the summer and one during Christmas, now the soldier is in charge of managing their own leave but must make sure they do not exceed their leave balance.
