You can always use them for face value toward postage. The stamps of that era are relatively common. Most can be purchased for around 20 to 30 cents in mint condition. Chances are that a dealer won't give you much for them. Sheets of mint postage stamps are routinly sold for 80 percent of face value.

The Queen Victoria orange half penny stamp is worth around $17 if used, and $100 if unused. Some varieties can go as high as $1,000 if unused.
That is Scott number US 1548. It has a value of 60 cents mint and minimal 15 cent used.
These are not from 1870, that is the date of the locomotive pictured on the stamp. The value is about 15 cents to buy one, but you'd be very lucky to sell it for face value.
Unused their virtually worthless. Postally used in fine condition you might get a pound or so.

These issues of stamps were issued in 1973. For your records, the Scott catalouge numbers for the issue is either 1500, 1501, 1502 or C86. Each stamp is different and unsure which one you have as they are all the same topic. Although, neither of these stamps are really worth much to tell you the truth. They are listed with the minimum value in Scott ($0.20) for either mint or used. If they are unused, I would recommend them to be used on your mail. The stamps wouldn't be worth much more than their face value.
