A certified nursing assistant can start off earning minimum wage. The key word here is certified. A CNA or certified nursing assistant has completed the hours of education required to be considered "certified" and ready for the next step which is taking a state test. you can work in a facility for at least 90-120 days before you have to take the state test.

The state test consists of two parts, the skills and the written test. For the skills part, you would demostrate different tasks to a state instructor, showing competency of important tasks required for your job.

The second part is written which consists of multiple choice questions that demonstrates your knowledge classroom material presented during classes. Once you are state tested, meaning you passed the state test, your can earn up to $14 an hour.
