Acupuncturists in the US hold, at minimum, a Masters of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, or Oriental Medicine. These programs require approximately 3,000 hours of training, often taking 3-4 years to complete.
Most program do not require a specific undergraduate degree, and some will accept students with only 90 undergraduate semester units or 135 quarter units. Some undergraduate coursework that is required includes Biology, physiology, anatomy, chemistry, and sometimes elementary Chinese language.
