Depends on the parts
The computer won't work properly if you do. The engine would be the simple/inexpensive part. The computer and rewiring would be cost prohibitive.
A lot.....considering you can't replace a cylinder.... unless it's in a new engine block. :)

How much does it cost to replace a radiator in a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am
I had to have the water pump replaced on my 1999 Pontiac Grand Am. The engine is a 2.4L. They had to remove the timing belt etc. to get to it -- the pump is inside the block somehow. It cost me well over $700 and took a week. However, the mechanic said the 2.4L is more complicated so it really depends on your engine. I'm learning to hate the Grand Am as it's cost me a fortune to repair over the last 18 months. And I take it for nearly all its regular check ups.My husband says good luck.Replacing a 1999 Grand Am 2.4L water pumpI had to have the water pump replaced on my 1999 Pontiac Grand Am. Usually it is mounted on the engine side of the firewall. They are not to hard to replace. You need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library.
£2.50 :)
i broke down and paid to have this fixed. My mechanic said this is a fairly common problem on the older grand prixs. He had to replace the relay as well as the blower motor, total cost was $400.
