depends on what type of fossil it is, what i would do was i would go to the museum and ask the owl to identify the fossil for me but i would not let him keep it so then i could take it to tom nook and sell it to him but say no to the price that he gave me so i could keep it, then you write down the type of fossil and how much tom nook would give you for it, wait until a flee market day (or change the date) and sell it to your neighbours for double that of what tom nook offered you. They will buy it off you for that price and it is a great way to make money quickly
