"According to an online gold-per-ounce-value calculator, 12 ounces of 14 karat gold is worth $1,828.74 per troy ounce or $12,801.18 total. Take in mind that this is retail value, and you would probably have to sell it for less."

18 karat heavy gold filled Cant sell for scrap
They were in Burger King in 1999
If they are truly solid 12k (50% pure gold) sunglasses, then they would probably sell for $100-$250. Here are some eBay offerings on that item
18 Karat gold is 75% of the value of 24 Karat Fine Gold. Therefore, if fine gold is worth $1,000.00 an ounce, one ounce of 18K Karat Gold would be worth about $750.00. This rate depends on factors other than weight such as the type of alloys used and what the object made out of the gold is. If it is a complicated piece of jewelry there would also be a value for the labor factored in to raise the value. If it was made by an outstanding designer or a historical style the value would be higher than the gold content. Keep in mind that if you are intending to sell any gold content jewelry for scrap you will be selling at a greatly discounted rate as the gold must be broken down to be refined. You will not be getting the full Spot value for the gold.
As of June 2014, the value of yellow gold is $1,264 per ounce. Much of its value comes from its overall scarcity and demand among consumers.
The best price for scrap gold really depends on how much gold that you have and where you want to sell it. You can either sell it on ebay, visit a local jeweler and have it valued. Usually you will get 80-90 percent of the intrinsic value in return.

600k gold
Gold is measured in karats whereas gems are measured in carats. The higher the karat the more pure the gold is. You can buy whatever karat you it just depends on your location, eastern countries and Indian sell 20k to 24k gold whereas in the US the most popular is 14k you can tho find 16k and 18k. Pure gold is 24K, but as you go to higher K gold, you also get softer material, which is easily damaged through normal usage.
