I know a lot about the British expeditions on Mount Everest from 1921 to the present day.
When Edmund Hillary reached the summit of Mount Everest for the first time on the 29th May 1953 the day was a Friday.
To reach Mount Everest you would fly from your country to Kathmandu then fly from there to Lukla. Then its a 10 - 14 day hike to Everest base camp.

There is a lot of difference between the clothing we wear every day to that which climbers wear on Mount Everest. Clothing for Mount Everest must be warm, durable, windproof, comfortable, easy to put on and remove. This is specialist clothing and can be very expensive but without it you will not survive on Mount Everest.

A climber on Mount Everest can burn anything between 6,000 and 10,000 calories in a single day, on summit day this will increase to around 20,000 calories.
As of 2015 there has been no evidence to show that George Mallory reached the summit of Mount Everest in 1924. Some people believe he did while others say he didnt. Maybe one day more clues will be found on the mountain to help determine if he got there or not.
To keep strong and healthy while climbing on Mount Everest you need to drink as much water as possible, it is recommened to drink around 4 -6 liters every day. The higher you climb there is less oxygen and your body will start to shut down, water is very important to look after yourself.
