My Remington 30 rifle has dates Oct 12 09 July 5 10 and Nov 19 12 at the center area There is also a PATD Nov5 1912 towards the front Do any of the dates indicate manufacture date?
No, patent dates just indicate incorporation of "inventions".
The Remington 30 was made from 1921-1925 which means other then
(possibly the very first ones, the all might be) they should be
date stamped on the left side of barrel right before the receiver.
The month and year stamp location/diagram and codes can be found
the on the Remington Society of America's (collector organization)
site here:
http://remingtonsociety.com/rsa/questions/barrelcodes
Basically the months start and coded with letters from
blackpowderx and year 1921 starts with M, 1922 N, P,R,S (no O or Q)
If by chance there is no stamp it would have to be 1921, 1922 on
definitely should be marked. Also should mention if you really mean
a 30 Express it's 1926-1940.
