Please don't de-claw your cat. You shouldn't remove the cat's main defense. This practice is considered cruel in many places around the world, and in the U.K I'm pretty sure it's outlawed. You should consider trimming it's claws, or putting special caps on their tips. If you MUST de-claw your cat, check with a vet to make sure you don't de-claw it too early. Every cat is different and has different needs.

Can cats be spayed at the age of 8 weeks?

Yes, a female cat can get spayed at any time during its life. However, the best time to spay a cat is usually before it is 6 months old. Cats will usually reach sexual maturity around this age, but some cats may come into heat as early is 4 months. It is generally considered the best time for a cat to be spayed is before her first season.

Your shelter is spaying the kittens you want at about 8 weeks is that ok?

Yes. Eight weeks is the youngest age a kitten can be neutered/spayed. Most people wait until the cat is around 6 months old -- and personally, I did not have my young female cat spayed until she was 9 months old -- but if they want to do it now, then that's their business. You should be glad, actually: having a cat spayed at a regular veterinary clinic can cost nearly a thousand dollars per cat!

Can a cat be spayed during oestrus?

Yes, but it is much easier for her if you wait until she is past that period. Also, you can have a cat spayed at 4 or 5 months before she goes into heat.

How much does a baby lynx weigh at birth?

At birth, Eurasian lynx kittens weigh 240 to 430 grams (8.5 to 15.2 oz) and are blind and helpless. Canada lynx kittens weigh from 175 to 235 g (6.2 to 8.3 oz) at birth. Iberian lynx kittens weigh between 200 and 250 grams (7.1 and 8.8 oz) at birth. At birth a bobcat weighs 0.6 to 0.75 lb (270 to 340 g).

When can the mother cat be let outside?

It is best to wait until the kittens are fully weaned and the mother cat is spayed. Cats can come back into season once the kittens start the weaning process. Some will come back into season much earlier, although this isn't particularly common. Waiting until the cat is spayed insures she does not become pregnant so soon after her previous litter, which could be detrimental to her health.

How old before spaying a kitten?

I got my kitten when she was 6-6 1/2 weeks old, so the breeder got her spayed, she was probably about 5 weeks. Make sure to get them spayed before 5 months (mine just turned 5 months on Halloween) because they are starting to grow more into a cat and they have to get spayed when a kitten.a kitten is until a year but they are growing so much into a cat so DO NOT wait until a year...I hope that that helped :P

Do cats have to have a litter?

No, they do not. This is a very old myth that cats and dogs must have one litter before being spayed. Having a litter is incredibly stressful for the mother cat, and can also be incredibly risky. Many first-time mothers are not great parents, and there is a very real chance of complications with the birth or the mother cat rejecting the kittens altogether. There have also been accounts of the mother cat's personality changing due to having a litter. There are also risks in catching diseases of unknown Tom cats. Cats can transmit disease through fighting or mating, who will then pass it on to the kittens. It would be much kinder for the cat to be spayed before she reaches sexual maturity (before 6 months old).

When can a mother cat get fixed?

"Cats can become pregnant within months of giving birth. Although a cat can be spayed at any point, it is best to wait until the litter of kittens is weaned. The mammary glands and uterus will be much small then, making the spay easier and safer. Specifically, six to ten weeks after giving birth your cat can be spayed."
