most electric space heaters use between 1kw and 1.5kw. for instance if yours has a low and high it will prob be around 1.2kw on low and 1.5kw on high. check your electric bill and see how much you pay per kwh and then multiply that by the mumbers above and that is how much it will cost per hour to run the heater

A:Portable Electric Heaters

Portable electric heaters are perfect for heating smaller areas, rooms or garages. There are basically four types: quartz, infrared, ceramic and wire element. Infrared heaters have no fan thus no moving parts where the other three have fans to force air past their heating elements. These require no venting and can be used in enclosed areas. They are 100 percent efficient, that is , they output 100 percent of the energy that is input. Unlike vented gas heaters which exhaust a certain percentage of hot gas (energy) outdoors. They are relatively inexpensive to operate. Below is some information on how to calculate the cost to operate an electric heater:

Electricity is billed in kilowatt hours. Look at your electric bill for the cost per KW Hr and multiply by .6

A typical cost migt be about 15 cents per KW hr. so it would cost about 9 cents.

Since an electric heater is a resistive load, the power consumed (in this case, 1.8 KW or 1.8 kilowatts) is equal to the applied voltage times the current drawn by the load.

The cost of the power then will be the rate charged by the Electric Company per each kilowatt hour times the kilowatts consumed by the heater times the hours it is used.

Or as an example, if the Utility company charges $0.10 per kilowatt hour (don't we wish!), then for a 1.8 KW heater, the cost would be 18 cents per hour! Note that the fan is an inductive load, and its power is calculated differently. However, its portion of the total 1,800 watt heater is so small as to be insignificant in calculating operating costs.

How much electricity should a fan heater 2000 watt use?

The fan has a rated load of 2 kW. It is this wattage times the amount of hours the fan is used times the cost of a kWh in your area that the cost is based on.

How much does it cost to run a small space heater in a month?

To answer this question the size of the heater in watts is needed and what you pay per kWh in your location. The kWh rate should be available from your electrical bill.Answer from Dave Baumert - see website below:Portable Electric HeatersPortable electric heaters are perfect for heating smaller areas, rooms or garages. Unlike vented gas heaters which exhaust a certain percentage of hot gas (energy) outdoors. They are relatively inexpensive to operate. Below is some information on how to calculate the cost to operate an electric heater: First, you 'll need the Kilowatt Per Hour rate from your electric bill. This can be found by adding the energy cost and the distribution cost. For example last month mine was .093503/kwh.Multiply the Watts of the heater (usually found on the back of the unit) by the Kilowatt per hour cost divided by one thousand. Below is an example for a 1500 Watt heater:1500 W x .093503 KWH / 1000 = $0.14This heater would cost about 14 cents per hour to operate or $3.37 a day. That is, if it runs continuously. Most heaters have thermostats and will cycle on and off thus reducing the total cost.

How do fans make warm air?

normal fans can't because they make the air go so fast that it is cold, to get warmer you need to buy a specialist fan or heater :) Warm air in heater and blower fan is produced by a an electric heater installed inside which gets hot and this hot air is blown out by the fan

What should be used in order to prevent a duct mounted electric heater from being energized when the fan is not on?

An air sensing or air flow switch will do the job to prevent the heater from operating is there is no air flow from the fan.

How much do infra red heaters increase the electric bill?

Cost of operating electric portable heatersYou need to know three things: Wattage of heatersOperating hours per monthCost of electricityExample:If you have a 1000 watt heater that operates 1 hour a month and costs $1.00 per kilowatt for electricity, then it will cost $1.00 to operate the heater for the month. more simply put - from my own experience a helluva lot!!A little more explanationYou pay for electricity by the kilowatt-hour. The rate is on your bill. If you draw 1000 watts for one hour, your bill goes up by that rate. To calculate the amount you will pay (And this works for any load, not just heaters):Find the power draw in watts of the heater.Multiply that by the number of hours you plan to run itDivide the answer by 1000 to convert from watt-hours to kilowatt-hoursMultiply the answer by your electric rate. The answer is how much it will cost to run.More from DavePortable electric heaters are perfect for heating smaller areas, rooms or garages.
