This is a failed Monopoly trivia question. Boardwalk hotel rent is $2000. Boardwalk unowned cost $400 to purchase. There are no $400 hotel rents in Monopoly. Mediterranean Ave with a hotel is $250. Baltic Ave with a hotel is $450. All others are at least $600.

Hotels cost as much as the houses cost, as they effectively replace "5 houses" on a property. The player pays for a final house and replaces the 4 there with the hotel. These were added to the game to allow for a fewer number of the necessary house pieces. The cost varies by the side of the board : from $50 per house on the first two groups (Mediterranean to Connecticut) to $100 on the second side (St. Charles to New York), $150 on the third side (Kentucky to Marvin Gardens), and $200 on the fourth side (Pacific to Boardwalk).
Previously, the Park Place hotel in the mobile game, Monopoly Hotels, was not available until November 21st, 2012 when EA finally updated the game to include the hotel. With it's current addition, there is no level requirements to unlock the hotel, however it will cost 99 million in Monopoly game money to buy it. Additionally, it takes approximately two days for it to open and become available for adding rooms to the hotel. As of November 24th, 2012, the final hotel Boardwalk has not been released and is not available until EA updates the game in the future to add the hotel.

It's ... basically ... just a walkway along the shore that serves as a kind of strip mall. Visiting any of the attractions along it may cost money, but the boardwalk itself is free.
