A "real" guitar could cost anywhere from $15 at a Swapmeet to $15,000 at an Auction. If you mean by, how much would a great starter guitar cost, I would answer that with $99.00 plus tax at Guitar Center, a Squire Bullet HH. Two Humbuckers, Three way selector switch, and tons of bang for your buck.

the squire is a good starting guitar but i prefer one of the cheaper ibanez art Guitars when i refer my students to a starting guitar or an epiphone, it just depends on you, and what you want. But yes ive seen some go for 10$ at a yard sale but watched Les Paul's wife's guitar sell for $90,000 on the television the other day.
