Officially there are no assassins working for the (USA) government.
That doesn't stop the government from contracting privet security companies to do their dirty work for them.
Backwater (under a new name & leadership) pays their employees (former spec ops, military, and mercenaries) around $100-250k a year, but the majority (if not all) are not assassins. They protect high priority executives, provide transportation for soldiers (with mixed results), and do other things the media isn't allowed to know about.
If you want to be an assassin, join the military, go kill terrorists for a while, and after accidentally killing some civilian's wife & kids, rethink your perspective on reality.
It's not James Bond, Hitman, or Jason Bourne. It's people questioning "why did my husband (or wife/kids) have to die" and not getting an answer, from god, the government, or anybody. Just alone, in pain.

I think the assassin gets to choose the price of hire...he/she just has to make sure he/she doesn't go to high in price.

The earnings of a private prosecutor can vary widely depending on factors such as location, experience, and the nature of the cases they handle. In general, private prosecutors charge fees on an hourly basis or per case, with rates typically ranging from a few hundred to several thousand dollars per hour. Additionally, some private prosecutors may work on a contingency fee basis, where they receive a percentage of any successful outcome in the case.
