False, each State Government and Federal Government has their own laws pertaining to life imprisonment. Arkansas's definition of a life sentence is 40 years, you would be eligible for parol after serving 75% of that time, you would be completely released from prison (go out flat) after your 40 year term. This is why a lot of courts and jury's will sentence a person to multiple life sentences. You must serve all of the first life sentence to get to the 2nd life sentence.
