Ellen S. Dierenfeld of the New York Zoological Society actually surved a number of zoos in the US and found that the average cheetah in captivity consumed about 1.32 kg (just under 3 pounds) of food daily. That's a little over 482 kg per year. It's estimated that this is approximately the same amount that cheetahs eat in the wild also.

Cheetahs are carnivores, so figure out what 482 kg of meat would cost, and you'll have a ballpark answer. If you can get meat for $3 a pound, it's about $3200.

10 of the 13 zoos surveyed fed their cheetahs a specific product (Nebraska Brand Canine Diet ... we know, they're not "canines", but it turns out it's a pretty good food for them; it's somewhat higher in protein and lower in fat than their "Feline Diet" product) supplemented with the occasional (1-2 times a week) whole chicken or rabbit, or the shank or ribs from an ox or horse.

It would cost a lot to feed a cheetah. Cheetahs need 5 or 6 pounds of meat a day so it would cost around 50 dollars.
