You just bought a 6yr old miniature horse that is pregnant and due in late May you need to know how much you should feed her?
What you reg. feed her until the foal is born then up her feed and give her a good mare and foal feed.

You can feed a horse about 4 - 5 cups of feed 2 times a day. There are sooooo many different types of food. There is: Sweet feed, non- sweetened feed ( which i think is better), senior horse feed, performance feed, Mare and foal feed,ETC I recommend feeding Unsweetened feed, because sweet feed has molasses in it. Which makes some horses VERY hiper. But that is my opinion. If you plan to switch feeds. Gradually switch. If you have a pony, I would NOT feed them sweet feed because ponies can easily get what is called Foundering. Which is a painful Syndrom that could cause death. Now let me tell ya about hay. I feed grass hay. Which consists of pasture grass. I used to feed alfalfa. But it made my horses sick if i fed too much. NEVER feed a pony or a pregnant mare fescue hay. It can make a pony founder, and can cause difficulties while delivering in pregnant mares.Please see the link below

What do pregnant horses need to eat?
The gestating mare should eat about 2% of her body weight in food. The total feed per day should be 70% hay and 30% grain (concentrates). She should be fed alfalfa due to its high protein/nutrient content for the growing baby. However, grass hay such as timothy is fine as well, it just doesn't have as much protein and nutrients. Free choice water is a must and add a good vitamin mineral supplement to pregnant mare's grain.

On howrse your mare is pregnant for 12 months. You feed her normally, or just look at how much food she needs. When you get to 8 months you can give her the ultrasound scan, and as of that day, you can't ride her, train her or put her in competitions but you can put her in 2 lessons per day. When she is due to have the foal, when you log in that day, you scroll down to the reproduction section, and it will say something like 'call the vet' and your mare will give birth MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 600e FOR THE BIRTH OR YOU LOSE KARMA . You can use aging points if you want
