I recently purchased a Michael Kors suit. The tailor here in San Diego comes highly regarded and had a good rating when researched.
However, I was suprised that to take in the pants 1 inch, and cuff them was $30. The coat required several inches of adjustment and the fee was $40. I would not have hesitated, but I got such a terrific deal that the tailoring charge was almost a third of the overall cost.
And it would have been worth every penny had you done it. The suit is just a base. Even if it is the most expensive luxurious suit in the world, if it doesn't fit just so, then it is all for nothing. You are better off getting an inexpensive suit and spending the money to have it tailored rather then buying an expensive suit and foregoing the tailoring.
