I read on a website called "psychobabble" that between 1.4 and 5.4 mg of folate (in the form of l-methylfolate, or metafolin) are recommended to combat both Lamictal's depletion of folate, and the memory/cognitive loss Lamictal sometimes causes. Another site said 1mg folate per 100mg Lamictal.
it is not exactly clear how it works, but it treats epilepsy (seizures). However, studies suggest that the drug may work by affecting sodium channels in the brain, thus, preventing the unnatural activity from spreading to other areas. This action helps control seizures. Exactly how Lamictal works to treat bipolar disorder is also unclear. Clinical studies have shown that people taking the drug went longer without having an episode of mania or depression, compared to those not taking it.
Can Lamictal or depakote cause false positive screening for opiates? I am not sure about it testing positive for opiates; however, Lamictal will show a positive reading on a PCP test. Until recently it was believed to be otherwise. I will provide the documented information and studies in a follow-up post.
No -- in fact recent studies show that Pregabalin may well become the anticonvulsant of choice for dogs -- see link below.
Only you and your child's pediatrician can decide that. However, Lamictal does have a particularly dangerous, but *rare* side effect of a sever and sometimes fatal rash. In studies, 6 children out of 952 developed the rash, just to give you an idea of the chances of this happening. Discuss this side effect with the pediatrician who prescribed the medication. Good luck.
It stands for "Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale". It is used for measuring symptoms over a period of time.
The branch of chemistry that is being applied in measuring the concentration of an air pollutant is analytical chemistry. It studies the identification, separation, and quantification of the chemical components of nature.
Yes it depends on what you are measuring in your study. some examples of variable include age, sex, marital status among others
Saliva sampling is also a more accurate way of measuring a woman's hormone levels, pre-, peri-, and post-meno-pause, for fertility studies and hormone replacement therapy.
The methods used to study ecology include observation and record-keeping. A scientist or other observer makes note of the conditions in an area and the ways in which the life there interacts when studying the ecology of a place.
