Yeah silly putty dries. I had one once, and I left it out of the egg thingy and it dried out really fast. Maybe it was just defective though. Hope this helps!

Put the egg in a small titanium box filled with bubblewrap then wrap the box in a feather blanket, covered in layers of styrofoam which is housed in a lead lined steel cage.That should save the egg from most things barring a nuclear blast or a interplanetary collision.Wrap it in silly putty.
