It's a bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question, but I will try to answer.
I run a company that sells on Amazon, 2 years in we are doing roughly £20-25K per month, with a net profit of almost exactly 1/3 of that (£7-8K), take 2 part time staff members wage off that and you have my money before corp tax (not that i take all of it out obviously..it's spent on new stuff!).
We sell only products that we can make a very good margin out of, otherwise we don't bother wasting our time.
The majority of amazon sellers do not make a massive amount. They get bogged down in Price rather than Innovation and Value.
I know amazon sellers getting 500+ units A DAY out of the door.. and barely scraping even.
The answer is, if you pick your products and protect them from other sellers, be smart and work hard.. there is no reason you can't have 60K+ in your bank after a couple of years (with that growing quickly).
If you want to mess around selling cheap s**t vs 12 other sellers on each product for a 2% net margin... don't bother... just go and work in a bar or something.
