The best way to go about doing that is to apply for an apprenticeship with a company that makes them. You will be able to observe professional guitar makers (known as luthiers), and have access to guitar making tools so you can practice making them. Most guitar makers are apprentices for about two years, but if you catch on quickly, you may be able to get hired sooner.

A guitar maker must be proficient in woodworking, since that's mainly what's involved in making guitars. There are several tools you need to know how to use, and you'll need to know all the components that go into a guitar, and how to properly assemble them, and if you run your own shop, you'll need a fair amount of business sense as well. Add to that the necessity of having the patience of Job for some of the fine points of the job, and an acceptance of the fact that job satisfaction is going to be a large part of your "salary". Luthiers can make a decent living, but you won't get rich from it.
