The American alligator is the largest species of alligator, with males reaching lengths of up to 15 feet and weighing as much as 1,000 pounds. They are native to the southeastern United States and are known for their powerful jaws and thick armored skin.

The average alligator grows to around 13 feet long and weigh a hefty 800 lbs. Some have been known to grow to 1000 lbs and stretch to around 15 feet long, but these are not common.
The largest alligator on record measured 19 feet 2 inches and was caught in Louisiana in the early 1900's. Males typically grow between 10 and 12 feet long. Females typically grow between 8 and 10 feet long.
When young alligator snapping turtles hatch, they are two to three inches long.
Manta rays can grow much bigger than stingrays. Mantas can grow up to 23 feet while stingrays can grow up to 6.5 feet.
