None! Rabbits are not like carnivores, who eat one big meal and then stay full on it for awhile before needing more food. Instead, rabbits are herbivores and grazers: they nibble off-and-on all day long.

A rabbit's stomach should never be empty: food should be working its way through the digestive system at all times. Rabbits can't safely fast like many other animals can: even before surgery, they should be eating. Don't ever keep food away from your rabbit, because this can make your rabbit seriously (deathly) ill.

The best way to keep a rabbit healthy is to make sure he has access to grass hay at all times: this way, he can nibble whenever he likes, off-and-on throughout the day and night. Not every strand of grass is good, so the rabbit will root through what you give him, and then the next day you can take away the old hay and replace it with fresh new hay.

Aside from hay, you can give your rabbit pellets, and fresh dark leafy greens. You can either give one meal of these foods per day, or two meals. Feed your rabbit in the early morning, and/or the evening -- that's when a rabbit is most active and hungry.

Can swamp cabbage be used as the major food for your rabbit?

No, swamp cabbage isn't nutritious enough to be the main food for your rabbit, and too much swamp cabbage will make your rabbit sick. Rabbits need a diet very high in fibre and low in sugar, and they need the right mix of vitamins and nutrients. See the related question below for more information about the rabbit diet.Maybe. But before you go out and cut a bunch of them down, consider that a commercial rabbit food is fortified with a bunch of things, and the "mix" of components in the food cannot be duplicated by any single food in nature. Ever watch rabbits in an open area? They nibble on this, then nibble on that. They know instinctively that they need a variety of foods to stay healthy.Consider searching around on the web and contacting any "rabbit groups" for advice. There are a lot of rabbit organizations out there, like 4H. Hook up and get plugged in.

How much and how often should you feed your 13 pound averaged sized pet rabbit?

i have a 12.5 pound french lop eared rabbit. He eats about 1 1/3 cup of rabbit feed each night. And a little bit of parsley through the day. You can feed your rabbit a little over a cup every day at the same time, or feed him/her half in the morning and the remaining at night. BUT be sure to stay with the feeding routine. If you feed your rabbit all his/her food at the same time, remember what time you fed your rabbit and feed him/her that same time the next day.

Is fresh vegetable digests faster than cooked?

Cooking makes foods easier to digest. They probably still pass through your system at the same rate, unless your system has a problem with them like a food allergy. Then it would rush the food out.
