You should feed them twice daily but only as much as they will eat in 15 minutes. Any left over/uneaten food should be syphoned out of the tank immediately after feeding to prevent it from going bad in the water and poisoning the fish.

Goldfish are very good at pretending to be hungry all the time, but they are not; it's very easy to over feed a goldfish, so be mindful of the amount of food you give them.

My fancy goldfish were almost 10 dollars each, and the feeder goldfish were 75 cents!
