The great Berlin Airlift. A rather dramatic logistics undertaking that saw enough food and other supplies flown in to keep the population alive, if not happy.
The Berlin Crisis was solved by the Berlin Airlift. For several months in 1961 thousands of tons of supplies were flown into West Berlin. This broke the blockade of Berlin by the Soviets.
The Berlin Airlift was a factor, supplies were flown in during Stalin's blockade.
The people helped West Berlin by sending airlifts in 1948.
It is possible to find just about any food in the world in Berlin.
President Truman did this to prevent Stalin from taking over the city. Stalin blocked supplies to Berlin to force the US and British to abandon it.
President Truman responded to the blockade by sending planeloads of much-needed supplies to West Berlin. For more information on the Berlin Airlift consult the online Truman Library and Museum by following the link below.
There are lots of different types of Airbus being flown by lots of airlines on lots of routes. Probably the most expensive Airbus ticket would be for the Singapore Airlines First Class cabin London-Sydney, which is about $10,000 return. I have personally flown on an A319 from London to Berlin for $10 return (with Ryanair).
Every kind of food there is.
Berlin Airlift
they flew it in to west Berlin
In response to Stalin blocking truck traffic in and out of East Germany, the United States launched the Berlin Airlift. From June 24, 1948, to May 12, 1949, American and British planes flew supplies into West Berlin, bypassing the Soviet blockade. This operation was successful in providing much-needed supplies to the people of West Berlin and demonstrated the commitment of the West to support their allies in the face of Soviet aggression.
