You should be getting between 30-60 minutes per class a night.
not to much but not to little so right in the middle
What I like about grade 7 is that is easier than any other grades higher than it, and you don't get much homework.
You should be challenged, but not totally overwhelmed. Click on the Related Question to see how much that would be per grade.

The amount of homework a student should have depends on the grade they are in and other factors. Grades K-2 should not have very much homework. Starting in grade 3, students can have more homework, but not so much that they get discouraged or feel a lot of pressure. As students get older, they could have more homework, but again, not so much that they are overwhelmed or have to spend the entire evening doing homework. Middle school and high school students should be able to handle whatever homework they are given as long as it is not so much that they honestly cannot get it done if they are trying to do it.
About a hour and 30 minutes or less your child is spending more time see if he/she needs any help with his/her homework. Also if your child is getting low grades think about his/her homework or just check his/her homework.
I think that an 8th grade student should get a fair amount of homework and classwork. We will be going into High school next year and if we get a low amount of work, we will be surprised and shocked about the amount of work in high school. We will basically get "pounded" with work. I think that we should get a medium amount so that we can be somewhat ready but noy too much because then we will get stressed and overwhemed since we didn't get that much work in 7th Grade.

idiocy. get someone else to do your 7th grade Bio homework.
Because it is a higher grade and there is more homework.
Actually more because they have to grade all the homework from all the kids in all the classes they teach -- so it takes more work for them to grade all that home work in like one night.
