ADVERTISED HORSEPOWER IS-- 165 HP @ 3800 RPMs.
I'm not sure if the 1986 is the same as the 1987 , but ( on the 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis the 5.0 liter / 302 cubic inch V8 engine is rated at 150 horsepower and the 5.8 liter / 351 cubic inch V8 engine is rated at 180 horsepower according to my Chilton's Auto Repair Manual )
Cubic inches is only one variable in determining horsepower
If it's the same as a 1987 - 210 horsepower
The 1986 Ford Mustang 3.8 liter engine was rated at 120-horsepower
The 5.0 liter V8 engine in a 1986 Ford Mustang GT was rated at : ( 200 horsepower from the factory )
The 1986 Chevrolet C 10 pickup truck with a 4.3 liter engine had a horsepower rating of 143. The horsepower rating was slightly higher or lower depending on the transmission application.
That would depend on what size engine you have : The 4.9 liter ( 300 cubic inch ) straight 6 cylinder The 5.0 liter ( 302 cubic inch ) V8 , or The 5.8 liter ( 351 cubic inch ) V8 each engine has a different firing order , a little more information please
305 cubic inches
Ford calls their 302 cubic inch a 5.0 liter
For a 1986 Ford Crown Victoria : The 5.0 liter / 302 cubic inch V8 is fuel injected The 5.8 liter / 351 cubic inch V8 has a carburetor
