∙ 15y agoAccording to my veterinarian drug book, the recommended dosage of ibuprofen is 10 mg per kg of body weight every 24 - 48 hours. So if your dog weighs 25 kg, the dosage would be 250 mg. But, the same book also states that a safe dose of this medication has not been established for dogs or cats (contradictory, I know). Aspirin, however, is a safe and approved medication for dogs. The recommended dose of aspirin for dogs is 10 - 35 mg per kg of body weight. So the dosage for a dog weighing 25 kg would be 250 - 875 mg. Both of these medications can cause stomach irritation, so if you do give your dog either of them, it's best to do so with food. But I would strongly advise that you contact your vet before administering any medication to your dog.

∙ 12y agoNEVER give any dog ibuprofen. It is toxic to dogs. It is sometimes ok to give a low dose of buffered aspirin to a dog but the dose for a 9lb dog would be very small. Please check with a veterinarian before giving your dog human medication. Many medications that are safe for people can make dogs critically ill.
