The color is blue because magnesia milk is a hydroxide.
Milk of magnesia is chemically known as magnesium hydroxide. Although this compound isn't very water soluble, the small amount that does dissolve acts as a base. Thus, milk of magnesia is somewhat basic, and litmus paper would turn blue if exposed to it.
well, if you treat glass similarly to how you treat the sky, the glass refracts more blue light. I am not certain about this, but it makes sense. when you look at the sky, you see blue because blue light from the sun is refracted by the atmosphere more than other colors. When i look at glass (clear glass) i see blue when i look through the very thick parts of the glass at the right angle. therefore, blue seems to be refracted the most. if anyone can improve this please do. How much is this jar worth? It says R.E. TONGUE & BROTHERS CO INC Lustre Phili, Pa
Nothing, it's probably a regular piece glass just a different color. Like a Orange Glass Bottle. So i'd say it's worth nothing. So don't think it's worth millions or anything like that. Actually, orange sea glass is the most rare. Don't listen to the person above. Orange sea glass can go for a lot of money. How much? I don't know, but it can go for at least $25 for a small piece. Red would be next in line, then blue, followed by green white and brown.
