Yes - 22ct is a much higher purity than 9ct gold.
Compared to 18ct Gold (75% pure Gold – stamped 750) 22ct Gold is 91.6% pure Gold. The higher Gold content results in a darker, richer colouration. 22ct Gold is popular for Indian jewellery.

I have a 20th century vintage brooch with 22ct LND on the back - it is 22ct gold plated so I wonder if your LND relates to the plating, its probably gold plated. Take it to your local jeweller and ask, they won't mind telling you for free.
