It's not clear what you're referring to. ALL U.S. coins have the word LIBERTY on them and many older ones carry a portrait of Miss Liberty so a "liberty dollar" isn't very specific.
If you have a large silver coin with a recent date and says something like "1 oz 999 fine silver" on the back it's a bullion piece sold for its metal content. Its value changes with the price of silver; during 2008 it's bounced from $13 to $18.
If it's a circulation coin like an Eisenhower, Susan B. Anthony, Sacagawea, or Presidential dollar, it's only worth a buck.
If it's an older dollar (1935 or before), you'll need to post a new question with its date and its mint mark if you can locate it.
