There was no "Battle of Britain" 50 Pence coin issued. Perhaps you refer to the 1994 "50th Anniversary of the Normandy Landing (D-Day)" 50 Pence coin. I have to point out that as I type this I have a "Battle of Britain 1940" fifty pence coin in my hand, so either I have a forged coin or Mr Lewis is incorrect in his assertion that no such coin exists.
The Royal Mint advises that 6,705,250 D-Day 1994 50 Pence coins were minted.
50 pence.
you would be lucky to find anyone to give you anything for it. US coins have little value - even quarters. To be a bit more specific, at current (07/2009) exchange rates a common 1994 U.S. dime would be worth all of 6p, and a U.S. quarter would be worth a massive 15p!
With the exception of the 1994 50 Pence coin which has been withdrawn and demonetised, any British coins minted in 1994 are still potentially in circulation so, unless they are part of a Proof or Uncirculated mint set or are individual Proof or Uncirculated coins and in absolute mint condition, they are worth whatever is indicated on them.
