I'm guessing you are referring to a front pump seal or an axle seal. They are only about 5 bucks but to install them is a whole nother ball game.
You must remove the transmission are engine to replace the rear main seal.
Failed seal or gasket.Failed seal or gasket.
ANY transmission shop would have this tool. this is a two piece axle seal that is really difficult to change. I do not recommend it to anyone without any experience
It has a 1 piece solid round seal that slides over the rear of the crankshaft. You MUST pull the engine are the transmission to get to the seal.
The engine rear main seal can only be replaced with the engine or transmission out of the vehicle.
The engine and transmission has to be seperated. Then remove the flywheel. The seal is there. If you have no ideal how to do this operation I would suggest getting a repair manual to see everything that is involved. This is a pretty big job and it really sux.
The seal should run about 10 dollars or less. The mechanic shouldn't charge more than 40 dollars or so. It is a pretty easy job. Buy the seal, remove the driveshaft, knock the seal out, replace it with the new one and reinstall the driveshaft. Piece of cake. good luck.
drop transmission remove old seal replace with new seal
Once you get to the seal it is an easy repair. Problem is you must remove the drive shaft, 4x4 differential, and transmission to get to the seal. Not an easy repair.
Front seal: remove engine or transmission and replace the seal. Rear seal, remove the drive shaft to replace the seal. Unfortunately, you typically only have problems with the front seal.
By removing the transmission from the truck, then removing the seal.
Sounds like front pump seal if automatic-very common
