∙ 16y agoThe value of something has a meaning only in an exchange with something else. Usually it is expressed in a well established currency. It is also about 8 barrels of petrol. At present, 22nd April 2008, the value of 1 oz of gold is about US$942. It has a substantial volatility, fluctuating between US$900 and US$1000. The measure in US$ has increased tremendously in the last 10 years. The measure in barrels of petrol, much less.
