They haven't been put into production for public sale yet. The only one released was raffled off at the AAC Suppressor shoot, where the winner spent some $7000 in tickets to win it. He later turned around and sold it on Gun Broker - while I didn't see the end of the auction, I did see the auction while it was in progress, at a point where it was up to $16,000, and the minimum reserve still hadn't been met.
It's up in the air whether they actually will see market sales or not. Originally, the intent of Magpul (who designed the rifle) was that it would retail in the $1000 - $1300 price range, in order to stay competitive with the AR platform. Bushmaster kept elevating the price, and the final stated price was something like $2700 for a basic model, and $3000 - $3100 for the enhanced model.
"Kalashnikov AK-47 AKM Assault Rifle" Is the most effective assault rifle yet invented, of course, there are many versions of this rifle, but it is powerful, cheap, deadly, and pretty much accurate on an assault-range. ^^^ Wrong.... wrong on so many levels. The AK47 and AKM are two different rifles. The AKM is an improved version. And its main weakness is that it fires that terrible 7.62 round... The AK74 is a completely superior gun. More accurate, better ballistics with the 5.45 round, less recoil, lighter etc.
Which rifle are you refering too??
It depends on which rifle. <><><> Agree with above. There is no one "assault rifle", and no one weight. The German StG44 weighed 10.2 lbs, the M16 weighs 7.1 lbs.
roughly one pound, when loaded
A transferable, NFA stamped, full auto Kalashnikov rifle will run you well over $10,000.
Less than 100 to 500 or so
In halo reach there is some small moderations. The Rifle is slighty more accurate and has a new visual upgrade. But the assault rifle in Halo 3 is much better becuase it has more ammo (the rifle in reach only has 32 and the rifle in halo 3 has 60) and is the original version.
Which rifle did you have in mind? An AR platform rifle, you can expect something like 700 to 850 rounds per minute. If a gas regulator is installed, or it's a platform like the Special Forces Assault Rifle, it can be reduced to a much more controllable 600 rounds per minute.
Possible- yes. Likely? No. Most "assault" rifles have a much shorter effective range. Hitting someone at a mile with a relatively low powered rifle would be a matter of chance.
For most purposes an assault rifle would be better than a submachine gun. Submachine guns fire pistol ammunition, and so are sometimes called machine pistols. Assault rifles fire rifle cartridges, and so have a much higher muzzle velocity with consequently greater impact on the target, and a much longer effective range.
The primary weapons are assault rifle and pistol the rest are sniper rifle, shotgun (debatable) , and rocket launcher. You will probably not see these weapons as much
