The united states Army and Navy ROTC scholarships are full rides. The Airforce is the only branch that gives different amounts of money for different levels of academic merit. Army and Navy also give whats called a 3 year AD scholarship, which basically means that your first year of college none of the expenses are paid. After the year is over, they evaluate your GPA and if your in good standing with the law, full tution coverages begin for the next three years of college.

i don't know about the non-scholarship part, but if u are in smp you have signed a Contract with the Guard or Reserves, not ROTC. This means if you quit or get kicked out of ROTC you still have an obligation to the army, and from what i understand you will be demoted to privet and will go to basic like everyone else.
No. If you don't have a scholarship, it pays for none of your tuition.

You can complete the elective course without having to serve in the military. The only way you'd be compelled to do military service is if you enrolled on an ROTC scholarship. At that point, they've pretty much got you.Added; Depending on the structure and wording of the scholarship award, the option MAY exist of you reimbursing the government for your sholarship.
Generally, your commitment to the military is directly proportional with the number of years ROTC pays for your school. If you are awarded a full 4-year scholarship through ROTC, you will owe the military 4 years of active duty service.
If you apply for an ROTC scholarship and get it you go through four yrs of college and they pay for it .. free college with a little pocket money for you every month .. that sounds pretty motivating
