yes it is very hard to enter into the monopoly because either there are government regulations, license system or latents. one thing that is to be kept is mind that the inputs are very much expensive that common man can not afford it to purchase and use them for production. if an other firm of organization tend to enter into the monopoly then the opposite firm will reduce the price which will result into loss for the company so it is not beneficial for the company.

the rent in monopoly is when you land on somones property and if they do not have any houses, or hotels, you pay the least amout of money, the rent. which can be anywhere from 2 dollars at the purple properties, to 50 dollars at the blue ones.

The board game of Monopoly applies this on a limited basis by allowing property owners to charge much larger rents when they have control of an area of the board (the colored property groups). By developing these even further with houses and hotels, they can command ever larger fees from other players who land on their properties. Property groups where monopolies are not formed can only charge comparative small rents and are thus at a competitive disadvantage.
