Best Answer

In case of unity Power factor

  • One Watt is = 1 Volt - Amp (from the formula P = I x E),
  • One kilo Watt is a kilo Volt Amp.
  • 1 kW = 1 kVA

For PF = 0.8, 1 kVA = 0.8 kW

1 Watt = 1 Jule/sec

1 Kw = 1 KJ/sec

1 KWh = 1 kw for 3600 seconds There fore 1 Kw for 3600 seconds is = 3600 KJ

1 KWh = 3600 KJ

AND

1 KJ = 1/3600 KWh

You cannot equate the two, as they measure completely different quantities. The kilovolt ampere (kV-A) is used to measure apparent power, whereas the kilowatt hour (kW-h) is used to measure energy.

0.8 x KVA =KW

Answer

The kilovolt ampere (kV.A, not kva) is the unit of measurement for apparent power.

The watt is the unit of measurement for true power.

The reactive volt ampere (var) is the unit of measurement for reactive power.

Apparent power is the vector sum of true power and reactive power.

The correct symbols are kV.A and kW.

A kilovolt ampere measures apparent power, while a kilowatt measures true power. True power is apparent power multiplied by power factor. So the answer is that it depends entirely on what the power factor is for your load.

There is no relationship between kV.A and kW.h (to use their correct symbols).

A kilovolt ampere is used to measure the apparent power of a load, whereas a kilowatt hour is used to measure the energy supplied to that load. Two different quantities -no relationship.
